Former Open Exhibitioner of Downing College, Cambridge, where he read history; joined the firm as an articled clerk in 1985 and qualified in 1990. Partner of Cheeswrights since 1994 and managing partner since 2009.

Partner of Cheeswrights since 1996. He is the chairman of the Society of Scrivener Notaries and an English delegate to the United Kingdom Notarial Forum.

Read French and German at Collingwood College, Durham, spending a year of his studies working in Austria; joined the firm in 1993 and spent a year of his articles at law offices in Athens & Hamburg. Partner of Cheeswrights since 2001.
Alisa Grafton: B.A. (Hons)
Originally from Moscow, qualified as a Russian lawyer in 2000. Joined Cheeswrights in 2001 and admitted as a notary in 2005. Studied and worked in Madrid as a part of the qualification process to become a Scrivener Notary. Specialises in Russian matters and has an interest in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.

Read languages & law at Jesus College, Cambridge; joined Cheeswrights in 1975, admitted as a notary in 1980; partner of Cheeswrights in 1981. Publications: editor, Tenth (1988), Eleventh (1992), Twelfth (2002) and Thirteenth (2009) editions of “Brooke’s Notary” (Sweet and Maxwell, London) and Hong Kong supplement (2005); consulting editor, Ship Registration: Law and Practice (2002); with the late Theodoros Karatzas of the Athens Bar and subsequently Governor of the National Bank of Greece, “The Greek Code of Private Maritime Law” (1982). He is a past master (2002-2003) of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners member of the livery of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Vanuatu. Nigel was Managing Partner of the firm from 1990 to 2009. He retired as senior partner in April 2012 but continues to be closely involved with the firm as a consultant.

Read Russian & French at Clare College, Cambridge and spent one year teaching in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia; joined Cheeswrights in 1995. Specialist in Eastern European languages. Retired as a Partner of Cheeswrights in 2014 and now a Consultant to the firm.
Emma Noon (nee Wilkinson) B.A. (Hons)
Read French and Italian at St. Aidan’s College, Durham, spending a year of her studies in Bologna (Italy); joined the firm in 2005, qualified as a general notary in 2009 and as a Scrivener notary in 2011. In 2010 Emma spent six months in Rome in the office of a notary there.
